30+ years on the other side of the table.
For more than three decades, I’ve been the administrator, the program director, the person on the other side of that table. Now that insider knowledge goes to work for families navigating systems that weren’t built with them in mind.
The credentials behind that experience include a Master’s in Educational Leadership and Administration, a second Master’s in Political and Justice Studies, and a post-baccalaureate certificate in Autism Spectrum Disorders from Purdue. I trained through The Arc’s advocacy program and through the Master IEP Coach program, and I stay current with Wrightslaw and COPAA standards.
My education shows me what is happening from a leadership perspective. Lived experience shows me the family side. Together, that training is what lets me bridge the gap.
