Advocacy that meets you where you are

Take a breath. You are in the right place, and you do not have to figure this out by yourself.

If you are here, you are probably carrying a lot. A meeting that did not go the way you hoped. A plan that looks fine on paper but is not showing up in your child's day. A stack of documents and a quiet feeling that you are supposed to already know what to do with them.

Your child belongs in every classroom, every hallway, and every part of the school day. That belonging is not something we ask for or earn. It is already theirs. My work is to help clear away whatever is standing in front of it, and to do that beside you, never over your head.

Below you will find every way we can work together, from a first conversation to a full year walked side by side, with a price next to each one. Most advocates keep their pricing behind a phone call. I do not, because guessing what support costs is one more barrier families do not need. What you see is what it costs, so you can choose with your eyes wide open.

You do not have to know exactly what you need before you reach out

Most families find me somewhere in the middle of a hard season, worn down by meetings that did not go the way they hoped, holding a plan that does not seem to see their child. Wherever you are, there is a place to start, and we start there together.

Everything below sits on one path. You can step on at the beginning and move up as your child's story unfolds, or you can begin at the step that already fits what is in front of you. Each one builds on the one before it, so nothing you invest is wasted.

Discovery Call

15 minute introduction

$5

This is the front door, and the starting point for almost everything else here. We meet, you tell me what is going on, and together we find the service that actually fits. If you have your eye on Catalyst, Compass, Kickstart, Builder, a state complaint, or transition support, this is where each of those begins. You will leave knowing exactly what I recommend and why, with no pressure to say yes to anything.

Perfect for families meeting SOAR for the first time.

Catalyst

Consult + One-Page Gap Report

$129

Sometimes what you need first is a clear read on the plan you already have. We'll talk through your child's current IEP together, then I'll send back a one-page written report you keep, naming exactly where the plan is strong and where it leaves your child without support. Not a full record review, one page, one sitting, in your hands and ready before your next meeting.

For the family who wants expert eyes on the IEP before sitting down with the school again.

Compass

Your Personalized Roadmap

$249

When you know the issue you need to move on, Compass gives you a real plan to move it. We start with a review of your child's current plan, then sit down together for a ninety minute working session. You walk away with a written Roadmap that is yours to keep, the data behind your concerns, the exact asks to make, and the legal grounding underneath them. This is the document you carry into your next meeting.

For the family who knows the issue and wants a clear plan to move it forward.

Collaboration Momentum

The report, then ongoing support

$129 then $67 per month for six months, $531 total

Momentum starts with Catalyst: one conversation about your child's current plan, then a one-page written report naming where it is strong and where it leaves your child without support. From there it keeps going. For six months after, you have Companion, a monthly coaching call with me so the report does not just sit in a drawer, it actually moves your child's plan forward.

Momentum, or one at a time? Catalyst alone gets you the report. Companion alone gets you monthly coaching. Momentum is both, together, for $531 across the full six months rather than paying for each on its own. It is for the family who already knows they want ongoing support, not just a single conversation.

For the family who wants the written report and someone in their corner every month after, not just a single conversation.

Kickstart

Meeting attendance and preparation

$549

When the issue is bigger than a plan on paper, Kickstart brings me into the room with you. I review your child's plan, prepare with you before the meeting, and then attend it beside you so you are not walking in alone. Afterward we follow up together so nothing slips through the cracks. From Kickstart on up, your Common Ground community and free resource library are included.

For the family with an important meeting on the calendar who wants a prepared advocate at the table.

Builder

Everything, all year, with no cap

$1,499 For a full year, or $128 per month

Builder is the whole relationship. Unlimited meetings and real case management for one full calendar year from the day you begin. When a plan needs to change in October, in January, in April, I am already there. No new invoice and no starting over. It is open all year, so it is not tied to the back to school window the way the Cycle is, and your Catalyst investment applies as credit within forty five days.

Builder or the Cycle? The Cycle is three meetings and a set scope for one school year, at a limited back to school price. Builder takes the cap off, unlimited meetings and case management running a full year from the day you start, available any time of year. Many families live one Cycle and feel exactly where year round support would help. Builder is that next step.

For the family who wants an advocate fully in their corner, with no limits.

Your Common Ground community and free resource library are included.

Ongoing Support

Someone in your corner, all year long

For families who know this is not a one time issue. A low cost way to keep me close, without restarting every time something comes up.

Companion

$67 / month Six month commitment

Sometimes you do not need me to take the wheel. You want to do the driving. You just want someone who knows the road beside you. Each month we talk through whatever you are facing, and I give you real advice you can put to work in your own hands, at your own pace. This is do it yourself advocacy with an advocate on call. I am not reviewing documents in this one. Along with our monthly time, you get your free resource library and member pricing on anything else you add.

For the family who wants to lead their own advocacy with a trusted advisor a call away.

Specialized Support

Not every journey follows the main path.

Some families come to SOAR for something outside the usual IEP path. If any of these sound like where you are, bring it up on your Discovery Call and we will talk through what support could look like.

When Advocacy Is Not Enough

State Complaint Support

When your child's rights have been overlooked and the school is not moving, a formal state complaint can be the way to hold the process accountable. I help you document what happened, draft the complaint, and stay beside you through the sixty day investigation, so your concerns reach the right people in the right way.

For families who have worked the local options and need to take the next step.

Ages 21 to 25

Transition Pathways

The support meant to help does not follow your young adult past a certain age, and families are often left wondering what comes next. This is the season almost no one plans for, and almost no advocate serves. I do. If your young adult has aged out of IDEA services, we build the next chapter together, college, vocational rehabilitation, accommodations in post secondary settings, independent living, and a real place in the community. It is fully custom, shaped around what your young adult needs right now.

For young adults and their families planning the next chapter.

When Nothing Else Fits

Custom Support

Every family is different. If your situation does not fit neatly into any of the services above, we build something that does, whether that is a 504 plan, support for a gifted learner who also has a disability, a disciplinary matter, or private school advocacy. The Discovery Call is where we figure out together what custom support looks like for you.

For families with specific needs that call for a tailored approach.

Not sure where you fit?

That is exactly what the Discovery Call is for. We will talk through what is happening, I will ask the right questions, and together we will land on the service that matches where you are right now. No pressure, no pitch, just a real conversation.

Credit Toward Your Next Step

If you start with Catalyst and decide within 45 days that you need more support, your Catalyst investment applies as credit toward Compass, Kickstart, or Builder. You are never starting over. Each step forward builds on the one before it.

Questions Families Ask

Before you book, you might be wondering.

Real questions, honest answers. If you do not see yours here, bring it to your Discovery Call.

What makes SOAR different from other special education advocates?

Most advocates help families adapt to whatever the school offers. We help you understand that your child does not need anyone's permission to belong in their neighborhood school. That is their rightful place from day one.

What sets us apart is combining deep legal expertise with real cultural understanding. SOAR is the only advocacy practice that explicitly addresses how race intersects with disability in educational settings, while grounding every strategy in what FAPE actually requires, not just what schools are willing to provide. We also do not just focus on school success. Every goal connects to your child's actual life and the future they want.

How do I know if I need an advocate, or can I handle this myself?

You might be ready for advocacy support if you are feeling like you need permission for your child to access what other kids get automatically, spending your own money on services schools should provide, or walking away from meetings feeling like you agreed to less than what your child actually needs.

The truth is, FAPE legally requires individualized education designed for meaningful progress. If you are not seeing that individualization or progress, professional support can help you understand what you are entitled to receive. Sometimes a few strategic conversations early on can prevent years of frustration later.

What exactly is "rightful presence" and why does it matter for my child?

When that school psychologist told me my grandbaby would "never learn," I realized we had been asking for permission for things that already belonged to him. Rightful presence means your child does not earn their place in their school community. It is already theirs.

Instead of asking "Can my child be included in general education?" we start with "What supports does my child need to succeed in their general education classroom?" One approach treats inclusion like a privilege your child might earn. The other treats it like the legal presumption it actually is under IDEA. When your child grows up understanding their rightful presence in the world, they develop the confidence to advocate for themselves and pursue their goals without apology.

What should I expect if we work together? What does the advocacy process actually look like?

My goal is to help you understand your rights and build your confidence so you can collaborate effectively with your child's team. We start by looking at your child's situation through fresh eyes. What is actually happening versus what you were told would happen?

I will help you understand the legal landscape, coordinate supports across all areas of your child's life (not just school), and communicate strategically to move conversations toward collaboration. Throughout this process, I am transferring knowledge to you so you feel confident advocating independently, because you know your child better than anyone else in that room ever will.

Is hiring an advocate worth the investment? What can I expect in terms of results?

Here is something most advocates will not say: if your child's "free" education is actually free, you probably do not need an advocate. But most families are already paying for therapies, tutoring, or evaluations that schools should be providing under FAPE.

When I work with families, we typically see significant reduction in out of pocket costs, faster resolution of issues, and stronger collaborative relationships with school teams. The families who see the biggest return are usually those spending more than my monthly fee on private services schools should provide. Most importantly, this is about your child understanding their rightful place in the world. What is the value of that?

Do you offer a discount if I have more than one child who needs support?

Yes. Compass, Kickstart, Collaboration Cycle, and Builder all carry a 40% second-child rate, so bringing a sibling into a service you have already started costs less than beginning again from scratch.

Companion already covers your whole household at one monthly rate, so a second child does not add a separate charge there. Catalyst and meeting access stay full price for every child, since those are priced per report and per meeting rather than per family.

What is your background? Do you have special education training or certification?

Here is something important. There is no licensing required to be a special education advocate, so I want to be transparent about what qualifies me. My expertise comes from three places: lived experience raising two adopted grandchildren through special education systems, deep study of IDEA and FAPE requirements from a "how do we make this work for families" perspective, and cultural competency in understanding how racism shows up in educational settings.

What I bring is the combination of someone who has walked this path personally and someone committed to staying current on legal requirements and best practices. Most importantly, I believe parents are the experts on their own children. My job is to help you understand your rights and translate your knowledge into language schools understand and respect.

Can you really help my family if you are not local?

Absolutely. The majority of special education advocacy happens through document review, strategic planning, and meeting preparation, all of which work seamlessly through virtual meetings. Most school districts now conduct IEP meetings via video, making remote advocate participation standard practice. In fact, virtual advocacy often provides families more flexibility and access to specialized expertise than limiting yourself to local advocates.

How do virtual IEP meetings work with an advocate?

When your district allows advocate participation (which is your legal right under IDEA), we can join meetings via phone or video call. Before the meeting, we will review all documents, develop strategy together, and ensure you feel confident. During the meeting, we can provide support, take notes, and help ensure your voice is heard.

Do you need to be licensed in my state?

No state requires licensing for non attorney special education advocates. IDEA is federal law, so the same protections apply to families in all 50 states. What matters is deep knowledge of IDEA, FAPE requirements, and how to advocate effectively, not geographic location.

What if my school district says they do not allow remote advocates in meetings?

This is rare but does happen. IDEA gives you the right to bring anyone with knowledge or special expertise about your child. If this becomes an issue, we can discuss strategies, but most districts accommodate remote participation, especially post pandemic.

A Note About My Role

I’m a non-attorney educational advocate — not a lawyer. I collaborate with families to navigate systems, build understanding, and support collaborative solutions. The guidance, strategies, and support I provide are based on my professional training and lived experience navigating special education systems. This is not legal advice, and our work together does not create an attorney-client relationship. When legal counsel is needed, I’m happy to help connect you with appropriate resources.
